PAEB Releases the November 2019 Examinations results.

Today, the Public Accountants Examinations Board released the November 2019 examination results for Accountants Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) and Certified Public Accountants (CPA) at the Imperial Royale Hotel – Kampala.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

On behalf of the Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB) and on my own behalf, I wish all of you a happy and prosperous new year.

I take this opportunity to warmly welcome you to the release of the November 2019 examinations results.

In a special way, I wish to welcome our friends from the various media houses. You are our link to the general public. We appreciate our cordial relationship with you.

2.0 EXAMINATIONS RESULTS

As you are aware the Institute conducts two examinations diets in a year; May and November for all the courses offered by the Institute i.e. the Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Public Accountants (CPA), and Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) courses. The third examinations diet which takes place in August is exclusively for the CPA course.

We are here to release the examinations results for the November 2019 examinations diet. The examinations were conducted between 25 and 29 November, 2019 at all the examinations centres in Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara, Mbale and Nkozi.

This time round, a total of 6,516 candidates attempted the examinations compared to 6,324 candidates who sat for the May, 2019 examinations.

2.1 ACCOUNTING TECHNICIANS DIPLOMA (ATD) EXAMINATIONS

A total of 225 candidates sat for the November 2019 examinations just like in May 2019. Of the 225, 114 (50.7%) were female and 111 (49.3%) were male.

The average pass rate was 43.3% compared to 51.1% in May 2019.
In terms of gender, out of the 267 candidates who passed their papers, 133 (49.8%) were female and 134 (50.2%) were male. There is almost parity in terms of performance.
In addition, out of the 267 candidates who passed their papers, 190 (71.2%) passed on the first attempt. We wish to encourage candidates to keep working hard so as to complete the course in the shortest time possible.
In terms of age, out of the 267 candidates who passed their papers, 195 (74%) were in the age bracket of 18 – 24 years and 46 (17%) in the age bracket of 25 – 29 years.

ATD Top Students for the November 2019 Exams

The majority of the top candidates (8 out of 13) are female.
18 candidates completed the ATD course compared to 22 in May 2019. Of the 18 candidates, 12 (66.6%) were female and 6 (33.3%) were male. The list of finalists is attached.

The cumulative total number of who have completed the accounting technicians course is 1,770.

2.2 CERTIFIED TAX ADVISOR (CTA) EXAMINATIONS

110 candidates sat for the November 2019 examinations compared to 107 who sat in May 2019. Of the 110, 33 (30%) were female and 77 (70%) were male.

The average pass rate was 45.7% compared to 57.3% in May 2019.
In terms of gender, out of the 101 candidates who passed their papers, 37 (36.6%) were female candidates and 64 (63.4%) were male candidates.
In addition, out of the 101 candidates who passed their papers, 72 (71.3%) passed made it on their first attempt. We urge them to maintain the flame burning so as to complete the course in the shortest time possible.

CTA Top Students. Please Note Paper 2 was not attempted by any candidates.

6 candidates completed the CTA course compared to 10 in May 2019.
Of the 6 candidates, 3 (50%) were female and 3 (50%) were male. The list of finalists is attached.

The cumulative total number of students who have completed the CTA course is now 52. Of the 52 CTA graduates, 13 (25%) are female and 39 (75%) are male.

2.3 CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS OF UGANDA (CPA) EXAMINATIONS

6,181 candidates sat for the November 2019 examinations compared to 5,992 who sat in May 2019. Of the 6,181, 3,183 (51.5%) were female and 2,998 (48.5%) were male.

The average pass rate was 31.2% compared to 36.7% in May 2019. In terms of gender, out of the 3,553 candidates who passed their papers, 1,849 (52%) were female while 1,704 (48%) were male.

ICPAU congratulates the female candidates for good performance. In addition, out of the 3,553 candidates who passed their papers, 2,284 (64.9%) made it on their first attempt. This is highly commendable.

In terms of age, out of the 3,553 candidates who passed their papers, 1,578 (44.6%) were in the age bracket of 25 – 29 years, followed by 749 (21.2%) of 18-24 years while those in the bracket of 30-34 years were 698 (19.7%).

128 candidates completed the CPA course compared to 145 in May 2019.
Of the 128 candidates, 51 (39.8%) were female while 77(60.2%) were male.

This brings the number of students who have completed the CPA course to 3,886. Of the 3,886 CPA graduates, 1,418 (36.5%) are female and 2,468 (63.5%) are male.
