The Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB), the examining Body of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has postponed the May 2020 examinations for the Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U) course, Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) and the Certified Tax Advisor (CTA) course.

This is in light of the extension of restrictions by the Government to control the spread of COVID-19. In the address of His Excellency the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on 14 April 2020, the President extended the restrictions for 21 days, until 5 May 2020. The May exams had been scheduled for 25-29 May 2020.

In a statement issued by the Chief Executive Officer of ICPAU, CPA Derick Nkajja on 16 April 2020, the CEO noted that a new date for the examinations will be communicated.

“As per the last communication dated 1 April 2020, the examinations scheduled

for 25-29 May 2020 are no longer feasible and they were postponed. A new

date will be communicated, once there is lifting of the directives that have an

impact on holding examinations,” CPA Nkajja said.

PAEB has noted that it will not be tenable to have 3 examinations diets in 2020, as had been earlier planned. If the situation normalizes, PAEB hopes to conduct only two examinations diets for the remaining period of 2020.

Registration for examinations for the first diet has been extended to 24 May 2020, bearing in mind the prevailing challenges.

Students are advised to continue preparing for examinations and desist from over relaxing.

END.
